Teacup Pomeranian
Fun Facts about the Teacup Pomeranian
The teacup Pomeranian is a cute dog that will steal your heart in a moment. The only problem with a teacup Pomeranian is that it actually doesn’t exist. All Pomeranians are tiny dogs, so the idea of a teacup Pomeranian is a little silly. There’s just one variety of Pomeranian, despite what people think about the so-called teacup variety.
All Pomeranians are tiny, and their final weight as an adult dog will range anywhere from three to eight pounds. There’s no doubt the tiny size of an adult Pomeranian is the reason for the wide misconception about the so-called teacup Pomeranian.
So now that we’ve cleared up some of the misconceptions about the Pomeranian, let’s talk a bit more about the breed standard. American Kennel Club regulations call for the Pomeranian to be between three and seven pounds, although the ideal weight for show dogs of this breed is between four and six pounds. Unlike other breeds, the female is supposed to be slightly larger than the male. It’s known as a toy breed because of its small size.
Traditionally, Pomeranians were owned by very rich people. Queen Victoria even had a Pomeranian. Pomeranians come in a wide variety of colors, from white or black, to red, orange, brown, and even blue. Some Pomeranians are even a combination of those colors. The Pomeranian tail curves up and lies flat on its back.
Pomeranians have a very thick coat that gets matted easily, so that’s why many breeders suggest you groom them daily. Pomeranians shed their coat twice a year, although you still may find it helpful to trim their fur because it will still get quite long.
Pomeranians are known for their lovely personalities. They get very excited to see just about anyone, and they’re very social dogs. They love to lick things (and people!), and they quickly become attached to their owners. Pomeranians are very intelligent, which means they can be trained fairly well, although sometimes they’re so smart that they learn how to manipulate their owners. Pomeranians make very good watch dogs because they will bark at just about any noise.
Most Pomeranians can live for anywhere from 12 to 16 years, so it’s important that you know what you’re getting yourself into before you adopt one. They make wonderful companions, but you’ve got to be ready for a close companion that will be around for many years.
Pomeranians tend to be very active indoors, and they will need less exercise than other breeds of dogs. However, they still need time to run and burn off some of their energy. This breed of dog is also known for being rather hyper at times, especially when they’re young.
The Pomeranian is one of the most popular breeds of dogs in the United States, frequently landing in the top 15 of registered AKC dog breeds. Many people enjoy the Pomeranian’s small size, which can make this type of dog a little easier to care for because he doesn’t need as much room as other larger dogs do to spread his legs in.
